Your Key Responsibilities

  • The role of the Structural Engineer is to work on projects for both tower and rooftop sites nationwide.
  • Analysis and approve tower structural analysis, construction drawings, custom mounts, and post construction inspections.
  • Acts as quality control reviewer on projects.
  • Proactively represents firm and pursues opportunities for new business.
  • Develops and delivers client presentations.
  • Assist with development of design standards.
  • Attend and/or participate in events where leadership visibility is desired (i.e., company events/parties, industry events, recruiting programs).
  • Participate in the development, dissemination and implementation of a business plan.
Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Multiple Canadian Professional Engineering licenses are required. At a minimum Ontario, but the successful candidate will require licenses in most Canadian provinces and territories.
  • French-English bilingual is an asset, as is Quebec Professional Engineering license.
  • Deep understanding and working knowledge of CSA S37-24, as well as the following building systems: steel framing in tower structures including lateral systems for seismic (braced frames, BRBF, SPSW, etc.), concrete foundations and anchors.
  • Extensive experience with the reinforcement of communications towers – foundation, tower structure, guy anchors, guy wires, etc.
  • An understanding of geotechnical analysis and reports as they relate to foundation and tower design.
  • Requisite knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable codes
  • Strong knowledge of structural systems, seismic design, construction means and methods, materials, and industry standards as they relate to telecom infrastructure, Specifically, tower and rooftop sites.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form concepts and ideas to tower owners and telecommunications clients
  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought

Education and Experience

  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required, Master’s Degree is an asset
  • Experience with general business software (Microsoft Office suite)
  • Experience with industry standard Structural Engineering software (TS Tower, TS Foundation, RISA, etc.)
  • Experience with modeling software (Autodesk Revit) is an asset

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may require travel and include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
