The Opportunity:

Join WSP as a structural engineerfor the Centre Block Rehabilitation Project. Centre Block is our most iconic heritage building and a symbol of Canadian democracy. The building contains the House of Commons and Senate Chambers, as well as offices for MPs, senators and senior administrators.

The Centre Block Rehabilitation Project is a long-term renovation, rehabilitation and rejuvenation project of national interest within the Parliamentary Precinct. WSP (in joint venture) is providing a range of multidisciplinary consultancy services, including structural design and contract administration. WSP's scope extends well beyond a rehabilitation of Centre Block (CB) and the Peace Tower (PT) to include a large multi-level, below grade Visitor Welcome Centre (VWC) located immediately to the south of CB, and 30 related enabling work projects.

Note: This role can be based in any WSP Office location in Ontario, however will require Reliability clearance as this is a Government Project.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Completing engineering calculations, design and assessments of steel, concrete, and masonry structures
  • Managing and coordinating projects with clients and other disciplines
  • Preparing technical reports
  • Preparing and delivering presentations to clients and other disciplines
  • Preparing structural design packages
  • Occasional visits to the sitefor structural assessments and site support

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • A Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering with a course focus on the structural design and analysis of buildings. A postgraduate degree (Master or Ph.D.) with a focus on seismic design and analysis would be an asset
  • Familiarity with the National Building Code of Canada and the Canadian material design standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • 5 years of experience in structural design of buildings
  • Proficiency in the CSI analytical software suite (ETABS, SAFE, SAP) would be an asset
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit would be an asset
  • Ability to obtain PSPC Reliability clearance
