A local government agency in Mackenzie seeks a Parattack Crew Leader to lead wildfire response teams. The role requires 2 seasons of fire-related experience and valid certifications in First Aid and driving. Successful candidates will work in dynamic, challenging conditions while contributing to community safety and resilience across British Columbia. Strong leadership and flexibility are essential.
The Team: Parattack Crew Leader will join the BCWS Parattack Program — small, tight-knit smokejumper crews that operate like Initial Attack teams, typically 3–4 people, with 20 jumpers in Mackenzie and close to 60 in Fort St. John. Established in 1998, the team works closely with all BCWS roles and our partners and stakeholders, and we value diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and lived experiences to make better decisions and keep people safe. You’ll be part of a dynamic, supportive environment alongside dedicated, passionate firefighters where everyone is respected, included, and set up to do their best work.
The Role: As a Parattack crew leader, you\'ll lead Parattack crews on the fireline and in day-to-day fieldwork around their communities, playing a vital part in keeping these communities safe and resilient. Your work in wildfire prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery will have a direct impact across the province. Education and Experience
* Intermediate First Aid is the new name for Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 2, as of November 2024. The name change is part of a restructuring of first aid courses in British Columbia to align with the Canadian Standards Association (CSA).
