Senior Electrical Mechanical Engineer – Building Services

Full-time | Permanent, Hybrid- 50% work from home 50% work from office

Job Responsibilities
  • Review and approve electrical designs for projects of varying complexity and scale.
  • Develop and guide design strategies for a range of electrical systems, including power distribution and generation; interior and exterior lighting, including lighting controls; fire alarm systems; and communication and security systems (voice/data, CCTV, public address, nurse call, etc.).
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight to the electrical engineering team.
  • Lead site audits, feasibility studies, and investigations, and prepare detailed reports.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of electrical design standards and practices.
  • Mentor and support the growth of junior and intermediate engineers and designers.
  • Assist in resolving construction-related issues through on-site troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, sales representatives, and multidisciplinary teams; manage project documentation and coordination.
  • Conduct site inspections, reviews, and provide support during the construction phase.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Required Experience
  • Proven experience in designing complex electrical and fire alarm systems across various sectors, including residential, healthcare, commercial, industrial, and institutional.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting on-site control and electrical system issues.
  • Experience with medium and / or high voltage systems is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding and application of relevant codes and standards, including OBC, OESC, CSA, and others.
Qualifications
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.
  • Minimum 10 years of electrical design experience in the building construction industry, with at least 5 years of Canadian experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive communication style.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Excellent decision-making, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Committed team player with a passion for mentorship and professional development of colleagues.
