A regional healthcare provider in Tofino is offering a full-time training opportunity for nursing staff. Job description

This position offers a full-time training opportunity (theory and practicum) designed to prepare staff to work in a specific Island Health specialty department. Upon successful completion, staff will be placed into a regular full-time rotation within the specialty department for which they have been trained.

Note: There is an 18-month return of service requirement as a regular/permanent employee within the Island Health specialty department. Staff may transfer between departments within that specialty. The position reports to the Nurse Manager, Department Head, or designate. It involves planning and providing direct nursing care to patients/residents in hospital or community settings, in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and the BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.

Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience
  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
  • Recent related medical and/or surgical experience.
  • Upon completing this specialty training, employees will be transitioned into a regular position within the respective department.

The hours of work, including days off and work area, may change based on operational requirements and applicable agreements and statutes.
