What you will do
  • Analyse, interpret and disseminate data from audience research, client profiles, program schedules, sales orders and commercial materials to determine potential impact on the unit, department or external client. Advise on changes to meet sales objectives or client needs, including inventory reallocation between tiers and late material adjustments.
  • Input and manage data such as sales bookings, scheduling instructions, commercial logs, cut-ins, and promotions to develop a compliant commercial schedule that meets advertiser commitments and CBC policies.
  • Develop relationships and negotiate with internal and external clients to maintain revenue, resolve billing discrepancies, arrange make-goods, adjust program formats, manage commercial production or extensions of deadlines.
  • Identify conflicts or issues (e.g., product conflicts, rejected material) and resolve within parameters or make timely recommendations with timelines.

As required, you will also perform the following tasks:

  • Interpret post-air information and input commercial status through post-analysis reports (via Cognos or manual processes).
  • Obtain approval for compensation schedules and book them.
  • Determine commercial placement within programs and crosscheck against tiers for conflicts; resolve any incidents.
  • Manage the inventory in the commercial library and create / maintain computer-based files.
  • Submit credit applications to Finance on behalf of advertisers and ensure adherence to advertising standards policies.
  • Review commercial reels to maintain product protection integrity and implement necessary changes.
  • Coordinate the receipt and production of on-air billboards and ensure appropriate payments.
  • Gather research and presentation material to support sales proposals and analyze campaign success.
Qualifications
  • Education equivalent to graduation from community college with emphasis on accounting, statistics, business, or marketing relevant to the assignment area.
  • Three years of relevant experience in marketing and sales within the broadcasting industry.
  • Experience in a media agency and / or broadcast sales is an asset.
