Job description
THE ROLE

The DCGPU team is looking for a Soldering Technician who will be responsible for the soldering rework with triage, inspection, and disposition of returned GPU PCBAs. This role involves various hand soldering techniques along with systematic receipt, verification, and documentation, conducting visual and basic diagnostic inspections, assigning appropriate disposition codes and ensuring accurate data entry into internal databases. The technician will work closely with engineers to support detailed board rework, repair, reflow and maintain high standards of quality, traceability, and turnaround time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Expertise in Hand soldering for the complex GPU PCBA, soldering involves various SMT components and different IC packages such as PLCC, PQFP, QFP, TO252, TO263, SOT.
  • Expertise in handling the rework station equipment like Soldering Stations, Desoldering tools, Hot Air guns.
  • Perform visual inspections for damage, contamination, and mechanical defects; mount units in test systems.
  • Read schematics, board layout, identify the footprint locations, trace the net location comfortably and execute the soldering skill on given complex multilayer PCBA in a professional manner.
  • Conduct initial triage using diagnostic tools and manufacturing test suites; perform basic electrical and functional screening.
  • Assign disposition codes (e.g., Scrap, Rework, Recovery, Return to Board Engineers) and route units for further failure analysis with detailed notes.
  • Maintain chain of custody for all returned materials and ensure accurate documentation in internal databases.
  • Attach supporting evidence such as high-resolution photos and test data; uphold data integrity, traceability, and confidentiality.
  • Follow established RMA and FA triage procedures; identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support the team for install and maintain test stations; perform corrective and preventive maintenance as needed.
  • Manage inventory of lab and test equipment.
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Experience in electronics repair, triage, or manufacturing quality inspection, including board rework handling.
  • Expertise in hand soldering skills: Soldering Basics, Wires & Terminals, Lap Solder Joints, Through-Hole and Surface Mount.
  • Solid understanding of PCB assemblies, ESD protocols, and basic electronics troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in documenting technical findings, database entry, and report generation.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and adherence to SOPs.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing multiple tasks; able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word and related tools.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Ubuntu environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and IPCA-610 – Level 2 standards.
  • Experience with complex PCBAs.
  • Basic soldering and rework skills (IPC-7711/7721 certification preferred).
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS

College diploma or technical certificate in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.

Mandatory Certification on IPC-A-610; Nice to have Certification on IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-600, IPC-A-620.
