What is the opportunity?

RBC is seeking a skilledSoftware Engineertocontributeto the development of theIT Risk and Controls Platform (Project Walrus). This role is critical to ensuring the platform’s technical excellence, scalability, and alignment with RBC’s risk management and compliance goals. The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on experience with React, Java (Kotlin), and Python, along with a solid understanding of software design principles and RBC’s internal processes.

What will you do?
  • Design, develop, and maintain high‑quality software solutions for the IT Risk and Controls Platform using React, Java (Kotlin), and Python.
  • Contribute to code and design reviews to maintain engineering standards and foster knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure code quality, performance, and adherence to best practices.
  • Work closely with cross‑functional teams (e.g., Risk, Compliance, Security) to deliver solutions that meet regulatory and business requirements.
  • Contribute to the implementation of RBC’s internal processes, including Helios, Disaster Recovery (DR), and Identity and Access Management (IAM).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring minimal impact on platform performance and availability.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve the platform.

Must‑have:
  • 3-5 years in software engineering, with hands‑on experience in React, Java (Kotlin), and Python.
  • Strong understanding of software design principles, microservices architecture, and cloud technologies.
  • Familiarity with RBC’s internal processes (Helios, DR, IAM) is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
