Primary Responsibilities
- Supervise, schedule and coordinate shipping, receiving and warehouse personnel to meet operational goals.
- Oversee the loading, unloading, inspection and documentation of incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Verify the accuracy of shipments, bills of lading, packing slips and purchase orders.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, customer requirements and transportation regulations.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and perform regular cycle counts.
- Work closely with production, purchasing and customer service to support on-time deliveries.
- Select and coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders and courier services.
- Train and mentor team members on proper material handling, safety practices and company procedures.
- Investigate and resolve shipping/receiving discrepancies or damage claims.
- Enforce workplace health, safety and housekeeping standards in the warehouse.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Prepare and maintain performance reports on shipping accuracy, turnaround times and carrier performance.
- Follow all Occupational Health & Safety Regulations and Company Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
Educational Requirements
Post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain management or a related field is preferred.
Required Skills & Expertise
- Post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain management or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in shipping/receiving or warehouse operations with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Knowledge of freight carriers, logistics documentation and customs processes (if applicable).
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency with ERP systems, warehouse management software and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to motivate and manage a team.
- Ability to operate forklifts or other warehouse equipment (license/certification may be required).
- Valid G driver's license.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Equipment / Tools / Technology Used
- Forklift experience (counterbalance)
- ERP experience (Visual Manufacturing)
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
- Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
- Ability to stand, bend and move for extended periods.
