Primary Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Shipper/Raymond Reach Operator is to organize the loading dock and accurately load customer orders according to route sequence and dispatch time. This includes receiving, storing, picking, and distributing materials and products within the distribution center. All actions should align with Tree of Life Canada’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

Essential Functions
  • Support and participate in food safety programs, including SQF (Safe Quality Food).
  • Determine shipment methods and arrangements in consultation with a supervisor.
  • Read production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, and requisitions to identify items to be moved or distributed.
  • Prepare bills of lading and shipping documents manually or via computer.
  • Operate powered industrial trucks such as forklifts or hand jacks to manipulate products.
  • Take inventory on the loading dock, ensuring products are accurately staged, properly stacked, and shrink-wrapped.
  • Determine optimal loading configurations considering stop orders, product mix, and routing to maximize cube utilization.
  • Rotate stock based on date coding.
  • Bring overhead products down to the pick bay.
  • Load products into trucks on pallets or by hand stacking, or a combination of both.
  • Ensure loading methods prevent transit damage.
  • Check for frozen perishable products in coolers and merge with correct orders.
  • Load all non-food items, such as pallet jacks, display racks, and mail.
  • Document proper temperature settings on outbound trailers.
  • Inspect trailer cleanliness for infestations.
  • Maintain and inspect power equipment correctly.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain good attendance and adhere to safe work practices.
  • Protect confidential company information.
Minimum Requirements & Skills
  • High School Diploma required; at least four (4) years of experience in warehouse/logistics.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Experience operating powered industrial equipment (e.g., forklifts, power jacks).
  • Proficiency in MS Office; SAP experience preferred.
  • Customer service-oriented with good interpersonal skills, tactfulness, maturity, and flexibility.
  • High energy, decisive, and able to support organizational priorities.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Capable of lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
