A renowned educational institution in Toronto seeks a Sessional Instructional Assistant for the course HIS367H1-S covering the British Home Front during WWII. Candidates must hold a minimum of an M.A. in History, with prior experience with Quercus being advantageous. This position includes attending lectures, grading, and other responsibilities as outlined. Pay is $54.27 per hour plus 4% vacation pay, with approximately 106 hours expected throughout the appointment period from January to April 2026.
This course examines how British civilians responded to the Second World war at home in Britain. Topics include the Blitz, rationing, propaganda, directed labour, enemy internment, evacuees, the changing role of women, radio and movies.
Dates of Appointment: January 1, 2026 – April 30, 2026
Qualifications:
Minimum M.A. in History required: good knowledge of subject matter. Previous experience or training with Quercus is an asset.
Duties:
Attend lectures; grading assignments and exams; consulting with supervisor/students; invigilating final exams; other duties as needed in consultation with instructor.
Estimated hours per position: Approximately 106 hours
Lecture: Wednesday 9-11 (online synchronous)
Rate of Pay: $54.27 per hour plus 4% vacation pay
