About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Underwriter, Prestige, to join our growing team! This position is hybrid role requiring a minimum of two (2) days per week in our office located at 700 University Ave in Toronto.
Responsibilities
- Be customer-focused in everything you do and look for ways to improve the customer experience.
- Develop and manage relationships with an assigned group of brokers to develop lasting and profitable relationships, which involve broker visits.
- With a strong sales ability, develop profitable business relationships with brokers and identify opportunities to promote Intact's Prestige insurance products and increase sales.
- Attend insurance industry and marketing events: promote products and services.
- Be responsible for underwriting complex risks, making sound business decisions that contribute to profitable growth, and negotiating terms with the brokers.
- Determine and control risk acceptance, risk improvement and declination of Prestige policies.
- Accept, reject, endorse, renew or cancel contracts following Intact's Prestige underwriting policies / procedures, applicable laws and regulations.
- Review property appraisal reports and make recommendations.
- Participate in large loss reviews.
- Identify and recommend efficiency and/or technology changes to improve business results and maintain competitiveness.
- Work closely and collaborate with other internal departments.
- Travel to brokers' offices as required.
What you bring to the table
- Minimum 5 to 7 years of prior insurance experience, preferably in a High-Net-Worth environment.
- Strong sales skills with proven experience achieving key growth metrics.
- Proven customer service skills with strong business acumen and the ability to develop and maintain relationships with brokers.
- Ability to demonstrate adaptability to change and a dynamic team environment.
- Act as leader within the business unit and display the ability to engage the team.
- Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-driven and able to work effectively under pressure.
- Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability and resiliency.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Completion of or commitment to achieve the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.
- No Canadian work experience required; however, must be eligible to work in Canada.
