Job summary

A leading company in transportation planning seeks an experienced professional to analyze travel forecasts and traffic modelling. Job description

Duties and Responsibilities :

As part of a transportation planning team, the successful applicant will :

  • Take a lead role in the analysis of travel forecasts and traffic modelling for a broad variety of transportation planning projects including transportation master plans, major new corridor studies, transit planning studies and land development projects;
  • Analyze and evaluate alternative road, transit and travel demand management strategies;
  • Prepare technical memos, reports and proposals;
  • Supervise and participate in the collection of traffic count data and preparation of inventories of road facilities;
  • Train and mentor junior staff; and
  • Undertake research and analysis of land use, demographic and travel data.

Qualifications :

  • Degree / diploma from a recognized University / College program in Engineering, Planning or related field with a minimum of eight years related experience, preferably in a consulting environment;
  • Strong working knowledge of transportation planning principles, processes and practices;
  • Working experience with transportation planning models such as Emme / 2, Emme / 3, System II, TransCad is essential. Experience with micro-simulation models such as VISSIM, VISIM, Paramics, etc. desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Well-developed computer and analytical skills;
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills; and
  • Valid driver’s license and availability of vehicle for site visits, meetings, etc.
