January to June: 40 hours/week

July to December: 35 hours/week

Duties:

  • Planning, setting up and administering accounting systems and preparing financial information for individuals and departmentswithin the organization
  • Developing and maintaining cost finding, reporting, and internal control procedures
  • Completing the planning tasks for Review Engagements including: planning memos, planning forms, time budget preparation, etc.
  • Responsible for file completion for Review Engagements including: the guide and relevant checklists and budget to actual analysis
  • Completing the required note disclosure and year end letters for Review Engagements including engagement independence, representation and legal matters, etc.
  • Examining accounting records and preparing financial statements and reports
  • Completing a complex Review Engagement with little to no guidance
  • Independently leading engagements and preparing the most complex sections of an Audit Engagement
  • Independently preparing complex personal tax returns
  • Reviewing various income tax slips and filings for corporate tax returns including T4s and T5s
  • Independently preparing complex corporate tax returns
  • Examining financial accounts and records and promptly identifying significant audit or accounting issues for discussion with the Manager, Senior Manager and/or Partner
  • Analyzing financial statements and reports and posing credible financial, business and tax solutions to issues that have been identified
  • Conducting self-review of own working papers and financial statement prior to submitting to Manager
  • Delegating sections of the file to junior staff members based on their knowledge, experience and capabilities and ensuring that staff are properly supervised during completion of each procedure
  • Coaching staff by providing support and development and by conducting Performance evaluations, if deemed appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Actively pursuing (or already in possession of) CPA or CPA,CA designation is required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field is required
  • 3+ years of progressive development and experience in public accounting is required
  • Innovative and strategic thinker; skilled at time management and report writing
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with team members
  • Ability to learn new programs quickly
