Scotiabank’s Global Technology and Enterprise Platform (GTEP), Solutions Integration & Delivery (SI&D) organization is deeply rooted and integrated into Scotiabank’s business lines. The SI&D team supports strategic and operational goals with our global CIOs and business stakeholders to deliver high quality and highly performing enterprise infrastructure services.
Reporting to the Director, Solutions Engineering, you will be part of a team that works closely with application owners and leadership across all business areas globally to provide reliable, scalable, and cost-effective infrastructure solutions. You will provide technical insights in the engineering and design of infrastructure solutions and drive forward the bank’s Public Cloud Acceleration strategy. In this technology leadership role, you will help establish design patterns for Public Cloud migration and mentor infrastructure and application development teams in their Public Cloud journey. When required, you may assist on major incidents.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with application owners and leadership teams globally to provide reliable, scalable, and cost-effective infrastructure solutions.
- Provide technical insights in the engineering and design of infrastructure solutions and drive Public Cloud Acceleration strategy.
- Establish design patterns for Public Cloud migration and mentor teams in their Public Cloud journey.
- Assist on major incidents when required.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
- You are passionate about leveraging public cloud infrastructure to achieve agility, efficiency, and security in deploying business applications.
- You design and implement highly available and scalable solutions using IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS to meet business and technology needs.
- You enjoy learning about emerging technologies and applying them to business needs.
- You foster technical vitality within the Solutions Engineering team by ensuring staff develop comprehensive public cloud knowledge.
- You can solve complex hybrid cloud integration challenges.
- You demonstrate excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) to convey ideas to business and technical audiences; proficiency in Spanish and/or French is a plus.
- You have 8+ years of technical experience working with Application Teams across servers, OS, storage, networks, virtualization, middleware, and database platforms.
- You have 4+ years of hands-on experience architecting and deploying full-stack applications in Public Cloud (GCP and/or Azure preferred).
- You have 4+ years of experience in end-to-end design/planning/implementation of migrating applications from on-premises to the Public Cloud.
- You have 2+ years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes (k8s), CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools.
- You can influence staff and senior management and promote understanding of outsourcing and cloud-based services risks, issues, and practices.
- You understand emerging technologies, operational best practices, development methodologies, and technical architecture relevant to Scotiabank’s global Infrastructure.
- Knowledge of data analytics platforms and AI/ML is an asset.
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science or Engineering or a related field.
- Public Cloud Architect certification (GCP and/or Azure and/or AWS) in good standing is an asset.
