Senior Solution Architect to integrate application security vulnerability detection tools with one of our major banking clients- 38366

Location Address: Hybrid - Toronto AND Scarborough – 2 days/week split between the 2 locations, can work from one or the other (Hiring Manager works Tues at Scarborough and Thurs downtown, can be flexible but 2 days onsite minimum required)

Subject to change: 3–4 days onsite may be required based on business needs

Contract Duration: 6 months (Possibility of extension & conversion to FTE)

Schedule Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week

Story Behind the Need

• Business group: Cloud & Platform Engineering - integrating application security vulnerability detection tools used by the Bank for static code analysis and SBoM generation
• Project: The incumbent is responsible for supporting and upholding the Bank’s application change control standards. The Solution Architect will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing comprehensive IT solutions that meet the requirements of Application Security within the bank. This role requires a deep understanding of various technologies, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Supporting several projects – SCA SBOM, vulnerability reporting management and others as needed in cloud and AppSec

Typical Day in Role

• Solution Design: Develop high-quality, scalable, and robust IT solutions that align with the business requirements and strategic goals of our clients.
• Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and leadership to development teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, and translate them into technical specifications.
• Architecture Governance: Ensure that all solutions adhere to architectural standards, best practices, and industry regulations.
• Risk Management: Identify potential risks and issues associated with solution designs and propose mitigation strategies.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve solution quality and efficiency.

Candidate Requirements / Must Have Skills

1. 10+ years of experience in IT architecture, solution design, and implementation.
2. 2+ years’ experience in networking and IT security best practices
3. 2+ years’ experience with cloud architectures on enterprise-scale projects (e.g. multi-cloud, hybrid deployments)
4. 5+ years’ experience with multiple design patterns (microservices, APIs, enterprise integration patterns)

Nice-To-Have Skills

• TOGAF an asset
• Hands-on development experience in python or java
• Application Security experience

Best vs. Average Candidate

Ideal candidate can demonstrate they are a self starter who takes initiative. Ideally someone who started as a Dev/engineer who worked up to solution architect, has good experience with cloud architecture on enterprise scale projects and any large scale enterprise architecture experience – candidate should be able to explain a larger piece of architecture they were involved in and not just a small piece

Interview Process

• 2-3 Rounds – MS Teams Video Interviews – all panels
• Codility will be sent ahead, format TBD
• 1st – 30 minutes-45 minutes – panel of project team members (HM, technical resources) – initial assessment with senior team membership to assess fit
• 2nd – 45 minutes - follow-up interview with technical team members probing on technical expertise and project experience
• Potential - 3rd if needed to decide between candidates
