Barracuda is looking for a Senior Software Developer, in Ottawa, Canada to dive into the tricky and yet interesting world of building and securing appliance systems. You must enjoy Linux distributions, playing with hardware, and be willing to spend a bit of “quality time” with OS installers, build scripts, CI/CD mechanics, and AWS infrastructure.

What you’ll be working on:

• Developing and maintaining Barracuda’s Operating System platform, based in Linux
• Including packages, startup services, installers, etc. while troubleshooting issues and scripting tasks.
• Involvement in bringing up new hardware.
• Maintaining and creating CI/CD pipelines conforming to industry best industry practices.
• Developing and migrating infrastructure in AWS to improve scalability and redundancy.
• Troubleshooting technical include OS or hardware platform bugs as well as software application bugs.
• Collaborating with other software development teams to embrace new technologies, improve architecture, and develop necessary toolsets.

What you bring to the role:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience
• Configuration management: Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or anything similar.
• 5+ years working with a common programming language: golang preferred, or experience in another programming language with willingness to learn golang.
• Experience in implementation of new, robust, and scalable RESTful APIs and microservices

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge or hands-on experience with Linux based distributions: building, compiling, and packaging software.
• Understanding of networking concepts.
• Fluency in scripting in Shell. Scripting in Python or other high-level languages.
• Enthusiastic about hardware technologies.
• Exposure to AWS, Git, Jenkins, Docker, and/or Terraform, preferred but not required.

The anticipated on-target earnings range for this role is $106,000 - $140,000 CAD. Actual compensation offered will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, and qualifications as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, the budget for the position, and applicable employment laws.
