Responsibilities
  • Integrate human-centered design methods into program reviews and data product delivery.
  • Analyze and document project outcomes, focusing on efficiency for staff and accessibility of services for citizens.
  • Evaluate internal and external data user experiences across channels (data pipelines, user interfaces, data catalogues, data architecture) to identify gaps, opportunities, and solutions.
  • Develop and deliver, based on business and client policies, goals, and priorities:
    • User and behavioral field research.
    • Co-design workshops.
    • Prototype design and testing.
    • Concept testing.
    • Journey maps and service blueprints.
    • Process mapping.
    • Service prototyping.
    • User story mapping and creation.
    • Usability testing.
    • Service performance measurement, analysis, and reporting.
    • Strategy and roadmap documents or diagrams.
Equipment Requirements
  • Must provide own computer and related equipment.
Mandatory Training
  • Completion of all mandatory training after hire, including Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and Security Awareness training.
Must Have
  • One of the following education and experience combinations:

    University graduation in computer science or related discipline + 4 years relevant experience, OR
  • 2-year diploma in computer science or related discipline + 6 years relevant experience, OR
  • 1-year certificate in computer science or related discipline + 7 years relevant experience, OR
  • Currently active professional certification or accreditation + 8 years relevant experience.
  • 6+ years of experience creating journey maps and service blueprints or other visual representations of user needs.
  • 6+ years of experience facilitating and leading co-design workshops.
  • 8+ years of experience using a human-centered design approach (UX, customer experience, service design, interaction design, etc.).
  • 8+ years of experience working with digital or data products (data pipelines, user interfaces, data catalogues, data architecture).
  • 8+ years of experience as a Service Designer on projects comparable in size and complexity to service innovation, program review, or digital transformation initiatives.
Nice to Have
  • 5+ years of experience analyzing research data and presenting findings in diverse ways.
  • 5+ years of experience creating service metrics and measures.
  • 5+ years of experience balancing project work between detailed tasks and understanding system-level relationships.
  • 5+ years of experience planning, conducting, and analyzing behavioral/ethnographic field research.
  • 2+ years of experience working in or for the public sector.
