Job description

We are currently hiring an experienced Senior Purchasing Officer who will be an integral part of the production team and who will lead and streamline the purchasing process through analyzing the current external/internal lead times and will be responsible for the planning, scheduling and purchasing of inventory using ERP to create and maintain a consistent level of availability. This challenging role in a complex lean‑manufacturing environment will create and communicate maximal visibility on inventory levels/turns and material usage/yields.

Duties & Responsibilities
1. Purchasing & Procurement
  • Oversee and execute purchase orders and manage the full procurement cycle within the ERP system, ensuring accuracy in quantities, pricing, and delivery timelines.
  • Monitor material requirements and plan purchases in alignment with production schedules and inventory levels.
  • Source and evaluate suppliers for quality, cost‑effectiveness, and reliability; negotiate terms and pricing as needed.
  • Follow up with vendors and logistics providers to ensure timely delivery and resolve any delays or discrepancies.
2. ERP & Data Management
  • Maintain accurate item master data, purchase orders, and vendor records in the ERP system.
  • Monitor and analyze purchasing data and KPIs to improve lead times, reduce costs, and optimize supply chain performance.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team on invoice matching, PO reconciliation, and cost tracking.
3. Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination
  • Collaborate with the production, engineering, and inventory teams to ensure seamless material availability.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate supply risks, shortages, and overstock situations.
  • Support cycle counts and physical inventory checks as needed.
4. Team Leadership
  • Provide day‑to‑day guidance and support to two junior purchasers, including workload distribution and escalation handling.
  • Assist in onboarding, training, and mentoring of new purchasing staff.
  • Act as the first point of contact for resolving purchasing‑related issues within the team.
5. Cross‑functional Collaboration
  • Liaise with Engineering and Production to understand BOM changes, material specifications, and priority needs.
  • Participate in weekly production or planning meetings to align procurement with operational goals.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.
Skill & Qualifications
  • College or University degree/diploma in a related field with a minimum of 3-5 years of purchasing experience in an ERP Manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 2 year in MRP (Material Requirements Planning) and scheduling (Optimizing manufacturing sequences) with ERP Software.
  • Proven experience with negotiating and closing supplier contracts.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as ECI M1, SAP, MS Dynamics GP, Netsuite, Epicor, SAGE or any other recognized ERP system.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
