Job Summary:

Altair is seeking an Aerodynamics Application Engineer to support our FlightStream product team. FlightStream is Altair’s class-leading, multi-purpose, mid-fidelity panel-method flow solver, capable of advanced compressible, viscous-coupled flow solutions in seconds and minutes of runtime on standard computational workstations. FlightStream is used worldwide for aircraft design, stability and control analysis of flight vehicles, VTOL transition analysis, missiles and launch vehicles. The FlightStream Product Specialist will aid external-facing Application Engineers in the support of customers and support the Altair FlightStream team in the creation of new simulation software advancements, supporting tutorials and documentation. They will work alongside members of the product development team and learn valuable skills in fluids and thermal analysis.

What You Will Do

• Collaborate with our Global Technical Team (GTT) to support our customers with a variety of challenging aerodynamics and aircraft and ship design simulations.
• Collaborate with development and QA teams.
• Assist in the development of Altair FlightStream and the development of new applications.
• Assist in the creation of tutorial and validation cases for FlightStream.

What You Will Need

Basics:

• Hold a master’s or doctoral degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
• Strong fundamental understanding of Aerodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, and Panel Methods
• Familiarity with commercial FlightStream and CFD applications
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
• Self-motivation and the ability to interface with multiple teams
• A can-succeed attitude and work ethic

Preferred

• Familiarity with ALTAIR FlightStream flow solver.
• Familiarity with commercial CAD and CFD software tools
• Custom programming experience (Python, Matlab, etc.)
