CIBC Private Wealth and Wood Gundy is focused on providing excellence in relationship-based advice, service and product solutions that meet our clients' needs. We have a comprehensive offer that addresses the full spectrum of wealth building clients, from self-directed investors to high net worth private wealth individuals to institutional clients.

CIBC Private Wealth is comprised of three areas — distribution, product and money management. Our distribution network includes our full-service brokerage, CIBC Wood Gundy, and Private Banking and CIBC Investment Council.

CIBC Wood Gundy offers in-depth investment expertise on a comprehensive range of investments including industry-leading managed solutions, securities (equities, bonds, trust units, mutual funds, alternative investments), as well as estate planning. CIBC Wood Gundy's extensively trained and accredited Investment Advisors provide clients with comprehensive advice both with investments and other financial matters.

CIBC Investment Counsel (CPIC) - Provides discretionary investment management expertise and tailored portfolios.

CIBC Private Banking – Exclusive personal service for high net worth individuals providing comprehensive financial advice and solutions in cash management, foreign exchange, credit and investments.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Practice Management, the Senior Consultant, Practice Management is responsible for contributing to the development of the strategic direction of practice management solutions for CIBC Private Wealth and Wood Gundy. The Senior Consultant plays a key role in establishing the framework for the business. This includes contributing to the development of tools and programs to support the implementation and ongoing sustainment of a holistic practice management offering that is designed to enhance Advisors’ business practices and increase revenue and market share.

How you’ll succeed
  • Practice Management - Support the development of effective practice management solutions to help build high performing teams, streamline business processes and assist Advisors in developing deeper, long-term relationships with their clients. Provide hands on support in assisting the Executive Director, Practice Management and Branch Managers in ensuring succession and contingency plans in place for all Advisors. Develop tools to assist Advisors in creating a compelling vision for their business.
  • Programs development - Contribute to the development of programs to help Advisors develop a strategic plan and define a more profitable target market. Provide support and tools to assist the Managing Directors to introduce and drive the changes as necessary and ensure realization of desired benefits through effective sponsorship and support through change and on an ongoing basis. Work in collaboration with the Executive Director, Practice Management and the leadership in the field to implement programs and tools to support the overall goals of the firm. Work collaboratively with the Managing Directors and Branch Managers to develop and implement best in class practice management solutions for the field. Work closely with Training & Development, Head Office partners and vendors to develop programs and sessions that assist in the development of the capabilities of Advisors and their teams. Create and Maintain the Practice Management intranet site and supporting documents. Working with the Executive Director, Practice Management and Training & Development explore innovative ways to deliver content and develop tools.
  • Growth of existing business - Be a key participant in project teams that support initiatives or projects on behalf of the Practice Management. Work collaboratively with the Executive Director, Practice Management and Managing Directors to ensure that Branch Managers are focused on integrating practice management solutions that align with the overall Wood Gundy strategic direction.
  • Operational Effectiveness/Compliance - Implementation of and adherence to CIBC-wide policies and regulatory requirements. Devote time to strategic policy, regulatory, and audit and compliance matters.
  • Cross-functional relationships - National coverage for all of CIBC Wood Gundy. Over 50 Branch Managers, and 850 Investment Advisors as clients, for 1 business line. This job interacts and collaborates on a daily basis with head office partners, Managing Directors, Branch Managers and Investment Advisors in the Wood Gundy branch network. This job interacts with external vendors for the purposes of developing programs and tools.
Who you are
  • You can demonstrate well-developed knowledge of practice management solutions at a tactical level as it relates to the retail brokerage business. Highly developed knowledge of the wealth management business, with 8 to 10 years of experience in the industry. Additional accreditation CFP, CIM, CFA is an asset
  • You can demonstrate experience and strong knowledge of retail brokerage and products and comfort in communicating this information to Investment Advisors and Investors
