We’re looking for a Senior Naval Architect Engineer or Technologist to join our growing engineering team at Fleetway. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy, supporting the Royal Canadian Navy through the design and delivery of complex marine systems and structures.

In this role, you’ll be part of a team that provides full-spectrum engineering and technical data management services. Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture Engineering or Diploma in Naval Architecture Technology

Experience and Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience
  • Hands-on experience in 2D drafting, 3D modeling and engineering design/integration projects (preferably in the marine industry)
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Office Suite is considered a strong asset
  • Experience with Shipconstructor considered an asset
  • Experience in working with Naval Warships and/or within the shipbuilding industry is considered an asset
  • Engineering candidates must be licensed, or eligible for licensure, as a professional engineer (or engineer-in-training) with Engineers Nova Scotia, and must maintain their licensure in good standing for the duration of their employment as an engineer.
  • All candidates must be eligible for government security clearances
Responsibilities
  • Develop and interpret 3D models of equipment, foundations, piping systems, and structures.
  • Create and interpret 2D drawings including parts, assemblies, installations, and diagrams.
  • Research vessel documentation and confirm accuracy of engineering changes.
  • Manage and implement Engineering Changes (ECs) for ships, systems, and equipment.
  • Support projects from initial change through to installation and onboard acceptance.
  • Conduct market research, option analysis, and system requirement determination.
  • Perform calculations, impact assessments, and write specifications.
  • Develop technical studies, drawings, and specifications for government and commercial vessels.
  • Write reports and assist with equipment selection.
  • Perform structural design and analysis.
  • Work on systems integration projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Conduct engineering analyses such as finite element analysis, weights, or stability.
