SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER (MILL)

Reporting to the Chief Mechanical Engineer, the Senior Mechanical Engineer's role is to use their knowledge to develop, implement and improve the maintenance program. They are also responsible to develop strategies to improve plant reliability and to troubleshoot recurring mechanical issues to find the root cause and the solution to it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and ensure compliance with the maintenance program.
  • Originates and develops analysis methods to determine reliability of components, equipment and processes.
  • Acquires and analyzes data. Prepares diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations and reports to define reliability problems and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Conducts an analysis of reliability problems and investigates to determine the required reliability approach for the particular situation.
  • Review maintenance plan modifications request.
  • Develop standards jobs, methods and procedures for maintenance and operation of mechanical equipment.
  • Investigate and analyze the root causes of recurring failures and propose solutions to eliminate problems.
  • Use the CMMS to extract datas to work on the bad actors.
  • Supervise and inspect the installation, modification and commissioning of mechanical systems.
  • Develop maintenance standards, schedules and programs and provide guidance to industrial maintenance crews.
  • Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems.
  • Prepare contract documents and evaluate tenders for industrial maintenance.

Additional responsibilities include managing projects and modifications related to mechanical engineering, technically supporting the operation, engineering and maintenance teams, and working collaboratively with others to deliver innovative continuous improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Registration (or eligibility to register) as an Engineer in Ontario (PEO).
  • A minimum of 8 years of related work experience.
  • Previous experience in open pit mining or mineral processing is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of reliability best practices.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and maintenance software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and in team settings.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Good observational and analytical skills.
  • Very organized individual.
