Job Responsibilities
- Manage and lead a geographically dispersed team. Recruit qualified staff; identify and address training and development needs. Monitor and assess individual and team capabilities, commitment, productivity, and performance through timely reviews, performance appraisals, and development plans. Recognize and reward achievements, promote morale and cooperation. Review and act on employee surveys and relevant feedback.
- Drive a customer-focused culture throughout the team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Foster a partnership between Operations Technology and line functions (e.g., Settlement & Clearing, Asset Servicing, Client Accounting, Registered Products, Middle Office, Product Control, Finance), promoting Operations Technology as a value-adding function that enhances Global Wholesale Operations, while encouraging efficiency improvements.
- Liaise regularly with management of these areas regarding ongoing programs and initiatives. Keep informed of scheduled releases, ensuring the business is aware of upcoming changes, impacts, and resource requirements for testing and implementation. Provide guidance on client-initiated operational and system solutions, ensuring stakeholder interests are met.
- Ensure the maintenance of stable and secure processing platforms according to Bank IT control, information security, and risk policies. Lead discussions with vendors and internal Technology partners on issues or negative trends that threaten SLAs.
- Manage support delivery for assigned systems and stakeholders, including Level 1 support, maintenance, vendor management, system enhancements, bug fixes, UAT, and complex problem resolution.
- Collaborate with Scotia Technology teams and external providers to deliver changes aligned with systems strategy. Promote a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
- Lead multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring compliance, client, and vendor issues are addressed, and deliverables are on time, within budget, and of high quality. Communicate status, risks, and issues proactively.
- Manage resource capacity, initiatives, and roadmaps with Product Owners. Develop schedules, monitor progress, and oversee expenses.
- Represent GTA on vendor, securities industry, and inter-bank committees, providing operational input and strategic recommendations.
Candidate Skills and Experience
- Experience in Capital Markets trading or operations, with a thorough understanding of trade and post-trade flows.
- Experience across static data, confirmations, settlements, clearing, and middle office functions, supporting securities products, especially on Broadridge IMPACT platform. Conceptual understanding of platform design, data workflows, and interfaces.
- Ability to improve control environments, drive automation, and enhance efficiency.
- Strong communication, influencing, analytical skills.
- Expertise in systems design, security, disaster recovery, third-party risk, change, and release management. Exposure to third-party controls is a plus.
- Knowledge of global banking systems and procedures.
- Diplomatic approach to balancing departmental goals, with advanced negotiation and influencing skills.
