About the Role

Are you ready to take the next step in your academic career in one of the world’s most liveable cities? As the Associate Professor of Nursing and Midwifery, you will provide strategic leadership in teaching, research, and curriculum development within the College of Sport, Health and Engineering. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of nursing and midwifery education at VU, contributing to the growth of research capacity and mentoring academic staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead curriculum innovation and unit design across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
  • Provide research leadership aligned with VU’s Research and Impact Plan 2023–2028.
  • Supervise Higher Degree Research students and sessional staff.
  • Act as Course Chair or Deputy Head of Program when required.
  • Foster strong partnerships with clinical, industry, and government stakeholders.
About You

You are a passionate educator and researcher with a commitment to advancing nursing and midwifery practice. You bring a strong academic track record, leadership experience, and a collaborative spirit. This role requires you to be eligible for full registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Australia and meet our work right requirements.

  • Registration or eligibility for registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse / Midwife.
  • A doctoral qualification (or substantial progress toward completion) in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated excellence in tertiary teaching and curriculum design.
  • A growing research profile with evidence of external funding and impactful publications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain a Working with Children Check and National Police Check.
  • Awareness of OHS responsibilities and commitment to safe work practices.

Location

This role is primarily based at our St Albans campus and Sunshine Clinical School, with travel across other VU campuses as required.
