Overview
The Opportunity The Senior Finance Analyst / Finance Business Partner will be an important member of the ApplyBoard Corporate finance team. He / she will be responsible for all aspects of analysis to support ApplyBoard’s global businesses, and will report to the Finance Director in the Kitchener HQ. He / she will also be expected to work directly with the VP Finance and other senior leaders on a regular basis.
What You’ll Be Doing Every Day
- Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Develop and maintain complex financial models to support long-range planning and scenario analysis.
- Prepare and present monthly and quarterly financial performance reviews to senior management, highlighting key variances, trends, and insights.
- Analyze key business drivers, such as pricing, volume, and mix, to understand their impact on profitability.
- Collaborate with business partners to conduct detailed budget vs. actual analysis, understand key business updates, and provide data-driven recommendations.
- Support Finance Team:
- Collaborate with the accounting team during the month-end close process to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial statements.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new financial processes and systems to improve efficiency and control.
- Act as a mentor and resource for junior members of the finance team.
- Support ad-hoc financial projects and initiatives as required.
- Investor Relations (IR) Support:
- Assist in the preparation of materials for investor presentations, earnings calls, and board meetings.
- Provide analytical support for investor queries and requests.
- Monitor and analyze competitor performance and industry trends.
- Treasury Support:
- Assist in maintaining monthly cashflows and forecasting.
- Assist in covenant testing and liaison with banks on financial covenants.
What You Bring to the Table
- University degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Business, or Accounting.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CFA, CA) or MBA is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in a corporate finance or analytical role, with a strong emphasis on FP&A.
- Proven experience in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with financial planning software and ERP systems is a plus
