Title: Senior Financial Analyst, Costing (Contract)

Reports to: Manager of Finance, Operations

Location: 24 Napoleon Road, Barrie (hybrid)

Job Purpose: The Senior Financial Analyst, Operations & Costing is a key member of the Finance team, reporting directly to the Manager of Finance, Operations. This role provides critical support across plant operations, SKU/Item-level BoM costing, inventory management, and capital asset planning. The analyst will work cross-functionally with Operations, R&D, IT, and Supply Chain to deliver insight-driven analytics, ensure accurate cost structures, support new product launches, and deliver reporting that informs strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Perform detailed SKU/item-level cost analysis across all manufacturing locations
  • Monitor and analyze cost variances, absorption, production throughput, and plant performance
  • Support BOM/routing validation and costing accuracy for new and existing products
  • Support costing of new product launches, including stage gate analysis and cost-benefit validations
  • Lead the process of the annual mass cost rollup in the ERP system to revalue a substantial amount of SKU/items
  • Assist in month-end close activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and P&L analysis related to COGS, inventory, absorption, depreciation, and prepaids
  • Maintain asset records through additions and disposals and support depreciation forecasting
  • Develop and maintain companywide KPIs across Supply Chain, Operations, Sales, HR, R&D and all other functional areas, consolidating metrics into a single monthly file for Senior Management Team (SMT) review
  • Lead or support process improvement initiatives across costing and reporting areas
  • Assist in the company ECO (engineering change order) process to provide insight and approvals for cost down or production change initiatives
  • Support the development of the annual budget and quarterly reforecasts, with emphasis on operational cost drivers and inventory forecasts affecting cashflows
  • Undertake ad hoc analysis and special projects as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • University Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics and/or Accounting & Finance.
  • Minimum three (3) years progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment considered as a strong asset.
  • Preference will be given to individuals who have completed a recognized Accounting/Finance Designation (CPA).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with strong PowerPoint and Outlook skills, experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred), working knowledge of Power BI or other business intelligence tools is an asset
