Role
The Senior Finance Manager will directly report to the Finance Director. The successful candidate will demonstrate an appropriate understanding of accounting principles and internal controls and apply them to oversee all aspects of accounting functions including financial reporting, financial close, standards compliance, and enforcing accounting policies and procedures. The position will ensure key financial controls are operating effectively, and the accounts and general ledger are maintained properly to ensure the company’s financial health is maintained to meet its long-term goals. The successful candidate will provide financial support to the business units as required, including the assistance with the development of ad hoc financial analyses.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the finance team, overseeing all accounting and financial reporting functions
- Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures to support the company\'s growth objectives
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Canadian GAAP and IFRS
- Oversee cash flow management, ensuring optimal utilization of financial resources
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and tax laws
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and systems
Financial Reporting
- Ownership of the General Ledger, Payroll, and Fixed Assets with oversight of both the Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable process to ensure all balances reported are complete and accurate in line with IFRS and ASPE.
- Ownership of Monthly, Quarterly & Yearly P&L and Financial Reporting package ensuring they are prepared in accordance with group finance procedures and timetables for statutory requirements.
- Authorizer of all Accounts receivable – Ensure Income Accruals with backup.
- Authorizer for all Accounts Payable transactions with PO process including Payroll Process
- Manage treasury function with respective stakeholders of AP and AR
- Detailed review of P&L and Balance sheet (including control accounts reconciliation) on monthly basis
- Assist in preparation of all financial reports
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Level of understand to interpret Profit center and Cost centers
- Assist in terms of preparation of budget and ensure analysis against previous year
- Month on month forecasting and prepare variance analysis against actuals and budget
Internal Control & Compliance
- Monitor the compliance with local and international accounting & reporting standards.
- Focus on SOX and Corporate Governance
- Assist with compilation of reports required for tax returns, and statutory regulatory activities.
- Monitoring of the cash available to ensure no discrepancies, weekly cashflow tracking.
- Manage debtor days with the Credit Controller by supplying information time to time including the regular review of outstanding debts.
- To develop, discuss and prepare financial analysis and identify/explain trends and highlight areas of financial concern.
- To act as one of the local contacts for the commercial assessment and understanding of the Canadian business.
- Assist and liaise with auditors to ensure smooth audit of operations at year end.
Intercompany
- Reconcile all intercompany transactions.
- Prepare all intercompany forms for distribution.
Other responsibilities
- Support the Director, Finance in identifying areas for process optimization and performance of quality reviews to ensure adherence to defined policies and procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and lead change management process.
- Investigate and report to the Director, Finance any inconsistencies that could affect the financial reporting package.
Qualifications
- CPA (Canada) or Master’s in Finance/Accounting
- 10+ years of post-grad experience in accounting and finance (SOX-controlled, service industry preferred)
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365)
- Strong interpersonal, time management, and multitasking abilities with attention to detail
