Who are we looking for?

We’re seeking a Senior Environmental Technician to join our teams in Fredericton or Bedford, Atlantic Canada. Your role will involve assisting engineers in designing, planning, and executing engineering duties related to the prevention, control, and remediation of environmental hazards, utilizing various engineering disciplines.

This position offers diverse work opportunities and will involve:

  • Fieldwork: Supervising site interventions related to environmental characterizations of soil and groundwater, land rehabilitation (by excavation, in situ treatment, and biopile), and completing topographic surveys and layouts.
  • Environmental Assessments: Conducting Phase I to III Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs).
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Implementing and enforcing health and safety plans on project sites; providing Emergency Response (ER) services for environmental spills/releases.
  • Data Collection, Analysis, and Technical Writing: Maintaining accurate field notes; preparing site reports and technical documents.
  • Engineering Solutions Design: Assisting in feasibility testing of proposed engineering solutions under supervision to support design validation.
  • Sampling and Testing: Conducting sampling of groundwater, soil, vapors, sediments, and surface water; performing exploration trenching, drilling, in situ geotechnical testing, and installing observation wells.
  • Project Coordination: Overseeing excavation and drilling activities; supervising subcontractors; coordinating project tasks and reporting to the project team.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Identifying technical issues with equipment and experiments and assisting in diagnostic procedures.

Training and Skills

  • Post-secondary diploma in environment, geology, or civil engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in environmental site characterization and rehabilitation.
  • Bilingual capabilities are considered an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Autonomous, methodical, responsible, resourceful, and punctual.
  • Availability for a variable schedule.
  • Willingness to work on-site outside the region occasionally.
