Overview

Position at Wind River – Senior Engineer – Platform - Test. Wind River Systems is building Wind River Studio for Operators, delivering an integrated cloud platform, unifying infrastructure, orchestration, and analytics capabilities so operators can deploy and manage their intelligent 5G edge networks globally. Wind River Systems is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer Software Engineer developing distributed cloud-based orchestration and automation platform solution for the intelligent edge. The orchestration capabilities in Wind River Studio give you a single pane of glass to manage and automate application deployment in a large-scale distributed environment. Scale from a handful of nodes to thousands of nodes in a geographically dispersed distributed environment.

About the Opportunity

We’re seeking a skilled and agile test engineer who thrives in fast-paced environments and brings deep expertise in automation and validation. While you’ll collaborate across development tasks when needed, your primary focus will be on building resilient test frameworks and ensuring product reliability. If you’re passionate about open-source technologies, comfortable in Linux environments, and have hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Helm charts, and Docker, we’d love to meet you.

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain automated test frameworks to ensure robust code delivery
  • Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles to validate features early and often
  • Collaborate with developers to define testable requirements and edge cases
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues during product verification and customer integration
  • Contribute across the full software lifecycle—planning, testing, and deploying
  • Leverage shell scripting and Linux tools for day-to-day operational tasks
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and sprint planning, with the ability to shift roles across testing, development, and automation as needed
  • Work responsibly with open-source technologies, including understanding licensing models and managing CVEs
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related field
  • 5+ years of professional experience in test engineering or QA automation
  • 2+ years of scripting experience in Python
  • 2+ years working directly with the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)
  • Solid experience with Linux systems and shell scripting
  • Strong exposure to containerization and orchestration tools: Docker, Kubernetes (K8s), and Helm
  • Familiarity with open-source ecosystems and tools
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven experience testing scalable, distributed infrastructure software
  • Track record of maintaining high-quality standards in production environments
  • Deep expertise in Python, Kubernetes, and ELK stack
  • Experience contributing to or managing open-source projects, including CVE remediation
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Self-driven with a strong sense of ownership and urgency
