Your role and responsibilities

The ABB Measurement & Analysis plant in Quebec is a world leader in spectroscopy. Our contract engineering service is the largest Canadian supplier of space optical sensors used for monitoring greenhouse gas emissions and global weather forecasting. Our plant is also recognized for developing and manufacturing products that meet various industrial analysis needs daily. By joining one of Quebec's largest engineering departments, you will contribute to a dynamic, multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and updating electronic systems for ABB's Measurement and Analysis products within the Process Automation division, ensuring high quality for industrial, space, and defense products. Reporting to the electronics group supervisor, you will be part of the electrical engineering team, focusing on:

  • Designing and developing electronic circuits, including modeling and simulation (digital and analog).
  • Selecting electronic components.
  • Designing cables and harnesses.
  • Writing design documentation, technical budgets, and testing procedures.
  • Participating in the commissioning and testing of electronic boards.
  • Engaging in multidisciplinary design reviews and presenting project progress.
  • Contributing to project planning and estimation.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety standards (CE, CSA, ATEX), environmental standards (RoHS, WEEE), and electromagnetic standards (CE, FCC).
Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in electrical engineering with extensive experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of electronic circuits.
  • Experience with prototyping and commissioning electronic boards.
  • Knowledge of software such as Altium Designer, Pspice, Matlab is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of programming languages like C, Python, VHDL is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written. French is required; English is necessary for communication with external customers.
