We are seeking an experienced Senior Laboratory / Facility Electrical Engineer for our Life Sciences business unit in Kanata.

This role involves overseeing all phases of engineering production and BIM for a range of projects, from programming to construction administration, including interpreting, organizing, and coordinating design efforts.
Salary range for this position is $127,000.00 - $156,000.00, with base pay varying based on experience and skills.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Design electrical systems for facilities and laboratories for government, university, and private clients.
- Provide conceptual and detailed design and analysis for power distribution (600V), site power (15kV), emergency power, grounding, lightning protection, lighting, telecommunications, fire alarm/mass notification, security, and access control systems.
- Prepare supporting documentation such as calculations, reports, and specifications.
- Possess extensive knowledge of electrical regulatory codes.
- Meet with clients to discuss and validate scope of work.
- Prepare fee proposals for engineering design services.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure accuracy, schedule, and budget adherence.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Complete tasks accurately with attention to detail and meet deadlines.
- Travel as needed.
- Write and edit specifications.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers, delegate tasks, and manage local team operations.
- Perform all duties with minimal supervision.
- Work in a hybrid schedule, combining remote and office work.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 12+ years of experience in facility electrical engineering design.
- Proficiency in REVIT/AutoCAD or similar design software.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
- Experience with electrical calculation tools such as AGi32, Elum Tools, SKM Power Tools, ETAP, EasyPower.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel & Word).
- Knowledge of technical codes like NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEEE.
- Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Resident status is required.
- Preference for local candidates.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with USDA, ARS, CDC, or laboratory clients is highly desirable.
