What you can expect to do here:
  • You will be an integral part of our dynamic electrical team and dive into the intricate world of engineering design on power distribution, control systems, communication networks, lighting, fire alarms, and security systems for water and wastewater facilities.
  • You will be also in a role to demonstrate your writing skills and sharpen your skills by preparing compelling proposals, technical memoranda, design reports, and detailed electrical specifications.
  • You will engage in dynamic project collaboration and meetings with design team, clients, consultants, and contractors at various stages.
  • You will collaborate with local utilities and other key players to ensure seamless project execution.
  • You will work closely with equipment manufacturers and suppliers, incorporating essential design data into our detailed drawings and specifications.
  • You will be involved in construction services, including shop drawing reviews, responding to requests for information (RFIs), change order assessments, and on-site inspections.
  • You will dive deep into engineering analysis and electrical system studies including arc flash, short circuits, coordination studies, life cycle assessments, and construction cost estimates.
  • You will conduct site surveys, gathering critical field data and performing condition assessments.
  • You will tackle project challenges head‑on, managing budgets, schedules, and any unexpected twists.
  • You will review design documents meticulously, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, codes, and best practices.
  • You will facilitate seamless collaboration between design and construction teams.
  • Mentorship: You will share your expertise with junior staff, fostering growth and development.
  • Business Development: You will be involved in business development, including preparation of proposals.

What you’ll bring to WSP:
  • Electrical Engineering Degree: Your educational foundation sets the stage for success.
  • Experience: You bring a minimum of 10 years in design projects across Ontario and Canada, you’ve honed your skills and know the ropes.
  • Credentials: You will hold a valid Professional Engineers License from PEO—your seal of expertise.
  • Codes and Standards: You will be familiar with relevant codes and standards, including OESC, OBC, IEEE, ASHRAE, CSA, and OHSA.
  • Tech Savvy: Your toolbox includes AutoCAD, Micro Station, and Revit. Plus, you’re no stranger to 3D modeling and municipal infrastructure projects.
