Salary Range: $53.69 - $63.92

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Decision Support Specialist with strong expertise in Advanced Data Analytics & Data Science to join our dynamic team. The Senior Decision Support Specialist will play a pivotal role in advancing data-driven decision-making across the hospital. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leveraging complex datasets to provide advanced analytics, forecasts, and data science expertise to support clinical programs, corporate initiatives, and improve operational efficiency and patient care. The successful candidate will partner with hospital leadership, clinicians, and external collaborators to transform complex data into actionable insights that enhance patient care, resource utilization, and system performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and automation of analytical models, dashboards, and reports to support hospital operations, quality improvement, and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and machine learning solutions to inform decision-making on core organizational priorities such as patient flow, wait-times, resource allocation, and clinical outcomes.
  • Support and lead reporting requirements for strategic priorities to senior leadership and the Board.
  • Ensure compliance with mandatory hospital reporting requirements to CIHI, Ontario Health, and other relevant ministries, guaranteeing accuracy and timely submissions.
  • Translate complex data findings into clear, actionable recommendations that drive meaningful change.
  • Mentor and support the development of the Decision Support team, fostering a culture of learning, innovation, and evidence-based practice within the Decision Support team.
  • Contribute to enterprise-wide data governance, data quality, and data literacy initiatives.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative leaders to identify data-driven solutions for critical challenges.
  • Stay current with advancements in health informatics and apply relevant methodologies within our organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in healthcare data analytics or a similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in statistical analysis software and programming tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python) and business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • In-depth knowledge of the Ontario Healthcare system, CIHI datasets (DAD, NACRS, OMHRS), and performance indicators.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex analytical results into practical solutions for healthcare operations.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a team environment and effectively communicating technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Experience mentoring a team is considered an asset.
