Overview

The Senior Content Creative – Graphic Design is a senior member of the Storytelling & Content Services (SCS) team at Métis Nation–Saskatchewan (MN–S). Reporting to the Creative Manager, this role provides advanced design expertise, strategic judgment, and mentorship to junior creatives. This position is responsible for leading high-impact design projects, balancing effort against government priorities, and ensuring brand consistency across all MN–S creative outputs. The Senior Content Creative plays a key role in translating complex concepts into compelling visual stories rooted in Métis culture, language, and history, while also planning, scoping, and resourcing projects to meet deadlines and deliver maximum impact.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design projects from concept to completion, producing high-quality visual deliverables across print, digital, motion, social, and environmental platforms.
  • Exercise professional judgment in balancing effort, timelines, and impact, identifying when to apply high-level creative energy versus streamlined solutions to maximize organizational benefit.
  • Plan and scope projects, ensuring adequate resources, realistic timelines, and clear deliverables in collaboration with the Creative Manager and Studio Project Manager.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and quality feedback to junior design staff and content creatives, supporting their professional growth and development.
  • Collaborate with Communications, ministries, and internal clients to interpret briefs, advise on design strategy, and deliver culturally aligned creative solutions.
  • Uphold MN–S brand guidelines and advance the organization’s visual identity across all outputs.
  • Provide exceptional internal department service, building trust and managing expectations while delivering effective design solutions.
  • Oversee preparation of production-ready files, coordinate with external vendors, and ensure high-quality execution across formats.
  • Maintain project archives and asset libraries, supporting efficiency and knowledge transfer within the creative team.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, respectful, and high-performance studio culture.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge And Skills
  • Knowledge of Métis culture and history.
  • Familiarity with Indigenous, Métis, or culturally responsive design practices strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro).
  • Strong understanding of typography, layout, colour theory, and design principles.
  • Experience in both print and digital production workflows, with ability to scope and estimate projects.
  • Skilled in decision-making, prioritization, and project planning to ensure efficient and impactful use of creative resources.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, including internal client service and expectation management.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and provide constructive feedback to creative peers.
  • Experience using workflow / project management tools such as Monday.com, SharePoint, or similar.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive design experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead designer role.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in branding, visual storytelling, and multi-platform design.

  • Valid Saskatchewan driver’s license and access reliable transportation.
