We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Migration Engineer to support cloud-native application and infrastructure migrations, primarily within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem. In this role, you will be instrumental in orchestrating seamless transitions of workloads to modern cloud platforms using containerization, Kubernetes, and CI/CD automation tools. The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail-oriented, and highly collaborative.

Role responsibilities

  • Support application and infrastructure migration to Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS), Azure Container Apps (ACA), or OpenShift (ARO)
  • Containerize legacy applications using Docker and Buildpacks
  • Create and manage Kubernetes resources using Helm, Skaffold, and custom manifests
  • Automate and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, with full understanding of repositories, secrets, variables, and self-hosted runners
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to plan, execute, and validate cloud migrations
  • Leverage Azure services such as Azure SQL, Azure Redis, and Managed Identities during migration and post-migration phases
  • Apply strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve migration-related issues quickly
  • Maintain clear communication with internal teams and clients throughout project lifecycles
Must have qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:

  • Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes and associated tools (Helm, Skaffold, YAML manifests)
  • Strong expertise in containerization technologies like Docker and Buildpacks
  • Proficient with GitHub, especially GitHub Actions and related components
  • Solid experience working within the Azure ecosystem (AKS, ACA, ARO, Azure SQL, Redis, Managed Identities)
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and clients
Nice to have qualifications
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
  • Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Background in building Java applications using tools like Maven, Gradle, MS Build, or NPM
  • Experience provisioning and securing cloud environments
  • Knowledge of Azure CLI for scripting and automation
  • Ability to monitor and troubleshoot containerized Java/.NET applications
  • Experience designing and implementing cloud architectures based on predefined specifications
  • Experience administering applications on VMware Tanzu
  • Experience with Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) environment

The benefits

This is a full time position based in Canada.

Valtech offers a comprehensive benefits package effective after three months of continuous service:

  • A comprehensive insurance plan, where you can choose the module that best suits your needs—Gold, Silver, or Bronze. The employer may contribute up to 80% of your coverage depending on the selected module. This plan includes short‑and‑long‑term disability coverage.

  • A retirement plan where Valtech will match 100% of your RRSP contributions through a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), up to a maximum of 4%. You can start contributing to your RRSP immediately, and to the DPSP after 3 months. The vesting of the DPSP will be after a 24 months of service.
  • Access to a flexible vacation under Valtech’s policy to support your work‑life balance, with 5 days available during your probation period and a prorated amount calculated for the remainder of the year.
  • Personal Technology Reimbursement – $30/month for every employee‑offered on day 1.
