The Senior Bookkeeper takes a lead role in updating and accurately maintaining client financial information and working collaboratively with clients. They find the best solutions for clients and act as a business partner. Regular functions include monthly financial reporting, general ledger entries, and processing payments, adjustments and government filing.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Client Service Provide exceptional customer service to clients. Identify opportunities to help clients with their financial requirements and bring to the attention of the Manager. Attend meetings with clients as invited by leadership to observe and contribute towards discussions as appropriate. Ensure client deadlines are met and provide updates to the Senior Manager for deliverables.
Technical
- Maintain financial records with proficiency using accounting software, e.g., QuickBooks Online (QBO) and QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
- Prepare and submit tax remittance forms for HST, EHT, WSIB and payroll remittances.
- Understand customer claims and filing requirements; file amendments and reconcile accounts for GST/HST/PST.
- Understand and prepare payroll with various pay types (salary and hourly).
- Process payroll year-end: T4s/T4 Summary (processing of both, with discrepancies addressed).
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and other accounts; prepare working papers for adjustments (e.g., prepaid expense, amortization, capital leases).
- Stay current with technology and maintain proficiency.
Analysis and Reporting
- Assess bookkeeping files and provide recommendations for onboarding and complete cleanup of new client files.
- Produce a set of financial statements, identify anomalies, and coordinate corrections as needed.
- Assist and coordinate government audits; obtain online access when applicable and identify discrepancies for correction.
Skill Set and Education Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in bookkeeping
- CPB designation preferred or demonstrated related work experience
- QBO advanced certification required
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QBDT, QBO, Xero
- Ability to problem solve and use various Fintech apps e.g., Hubdoc, Dext, Shogo, Plooto
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-client, deadline-driven environment
- Demonstrated leadership with clients and team members
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with staff and clients
- Flexibility for some remote work

Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $58,247.00 - $62,631.00 per year
