Senior Architectural Designer - Join the Midnight Team!

Department: Design & Development

Start Date: September 2025

Salary : $100-125K (based on experience)

Type : Full-Time. Hybrid. M to F, 10am-4pm in-office with availability from 9am-5pm, and Fridays work from home. Evenings and weekends as requested.

Join Midnight’s dynamic team! We are seeking a technically skilled Senior Architectural Designer to support our mid-rise apartment projects in Ontario. The ideal candidate will have played a significant role on at least one mid-rise residential building in the GTA or Simcoe area. This role emphasizes technical coordination including consultant and engineering review, while also contributing to drawing package preparation, material selections, and permit submissions.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Prepare, review, and coordinate complete architectural drawing packages for mid-rise apartment projects.
  • Review consultant drawings (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, landscape) and grading plans, providing technical feedback to ensure consistency with architectural intent and compliance with project requirements.
  • Identify and resolve coordination issues between architectural and engineering disciplines.
  • Develop and maintain accurate Revit and CAD models and drawing sets.
  • Provide input on material and finish selections, with attention to constructability, cost, and supply availability.
  • Support permit processes, including Site Plan Approval (SPA) Building Permit, Tender and Construction Drawing Submissions, by preparing, organizing, and reviewing required documentation.
  • Act as a bridge between the design team and construction operations, clarifying design intent and addressing technical questions from site teams.
  • Ensure compliance with the Ontario Building Code, zoning by-laws, and municipal requirements.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of architectural design experience, with significant involvement on a mid-rise residential project in Ontario (GTA or Simcoe area preferred).
  • Strong proficiency in Revit and CAD software.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing engineering drawings, grading plans, and consultant submissions.
  • Familiarity with municipal approvals and permit processes, including SPA and building permits.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods and building materials.
  • Solid knowledge of OBC and municipal approval requirements.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience and knowledge in BIM coordination preferred.
Assets (not a requirement)
  • Desire to obtain OAA licensure
  • Planning or project management experience
