Contributes to the overall success of Legal, Corporate Governance & Security globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reporting Legal, Corporate Governance & Security expenses. Responsible for the accuracy of consolidating financial information for actual, plan and forecast.
  • Responsible for:
    • Budget management to include forecasting and reporting of budget variances monthly, quarterly, and annually leveraging the Bank’s finance systems and tools.
    • Expense management to include organizing, preparing, processing and/or reconciling transactions, invoices, accounts and journal entries, leveraging the Bank’s payment systems and tools.
    • Reporting to include preparation and/or assistance with balancing, reconciling records, daily, weekly, monthly as appropriate.
    • Provides Complement Reporting update and submission on a monthly basis.
    • Monitoring schedules and meeting critical processing and reporting deadlines.
  • Undertake special projects and respond to priority requests on a range of topics related to expense management, providing value-added views and recommendations.
  • Provides operational support to the following:
    • Acts as a department contact for the Staff Commercial Card program, including provisioning and general support.
    • Acts as a department contact for the Business Continuity Planning (BCP), including communicating, testing and maintenance.
    • Providing onboarding/offboarding support.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • A good understanding of financial and management reporting principles; ability to sustain a broad-based knowledge of the Bank’s and Legal & Corporate Affairs strategy, operations, and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently, quickly, accurately and to multi-task to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience or a degree in accounting and experience in an accounting function.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, the full Microsoft Office suite, and Power BI, consistently leveraging these tools to drive data analysis, reporting, and business insights.
  • Good communications skills both written and verbal.
