Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years' experience of senior accounting within management, investment and real estate companies.
  • Fully understand the monthly accounting cycle and be proficient in accounting year ends.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of accounting policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Full cycle accounting including month end and year end close processes.
  • Accounts receivable and accounts payable oversight and review.
  • Prepare third party quarterly and year end reporting.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team with Dilawri Group of Companies - National. The successful candidate is someone who is passionate about the automotive industry and eager to contribute to our growing team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Full cycle accounting including month end and year end close processes, journal entries, invoicing, bank and general ledger reconciliations
  • In addition to non-dealership accounting you would be helping out our centralized national purchasing company, and preparing quarter end dealership working paper templates
  • Accounts receivable and accounts payable oversight and review
  • Balance sheet schedule maintenance
  • Prepare third party quarterly and year end reporting
  • Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of financial information
  • Support and assist junior accounting staff with daily tasks and duties
  • Prepare manufacturer financial statements
  • Understanding of internal controls and their importance
  • Expense and inventory analysis
  • Assist with yearend financial statement audit requests
  • Set up and maintain information reports for senior management
  • Process, review and analyze payroll; focus on discrepancies and taxable deductions
  • Ensure all standard accounting policies, procedures and controls are consistently and accurately applied
ABOUT YOU
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience of senior accounting within management, investment and real estate companies.
  • Fully understand the monthly accounting cycle and be proficient in accounting year ends.
  • University degree in Business / Accounting
  • Canadian professional accounting designation (Chartered Professional Accountant) or working towards a Canadian designation is considered an asset but not required
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office. Proficient in excel at a high level (macros and lookups)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of accounting policies and procedures
  • Excellent level of communication and relationship building skills to develop strong working partnerships with team members and management
  • Strong organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to be efficient and effective while working independently and within a team
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines
