Senior Accountant

Responsibilities
- Lead audit engagements from start to finish for small to mid-sized businesses and professional corporations
- Manage risk assessments, internal controls evaluation, fieldwork, and preparation of audited financial statements
- Review complex corporate, personal, and trust tax returns prepared by your team, ensuring compliance with current regulations
- Provide strategic tax guidance, including estate and succession planning for owner-managed businesses
- Mentor and support junior and intermediate staff accountants, providing constructive feedback and professional development
- Conduct year-end client meetings, presenting financial statements and sharing insights on audit and tax findings
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, anticipating needs and identifying opportunities for added value
- Draft client communications and internal technical memos on accounting and tax matters
- Stay up to date on accounting standards, tax legislation, and industry best practices
- Contribute to process improvements to enhance efficiency and client service
Requirements
- CPA designation in good standing
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Canadian public accounting firm, with strong audit and assurance experience
- Proven ability to manage and lead audit files independently
- Solid knowledge of Canadian accounting (ASPE) and tax standards
- Experience working directly with business owners and high-net-worth clients
- LLQP license is an asset, or willingness to obtain
- Proficiency with accounting software such as CaseWare, TaxCycle, QuickBooks, or similar tools
- U.S. tax knowledge is a bonus but not required
