Ocean Breeze Accounting Inc is a dynamic public accounting firm located in a small town in BC. We are dedicated to providing high-quality financial services to our clients and pride ourselves on a collaborative and supportive work environment. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team.

The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in preparing clients' financial statements and tax returns, ensuring compliance with statutory filing requirements. This role includes overseeing the preparation and filing of personal tax returns, supervising staff accountants, and maintaining strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare year-end financial statements and related working papers for audits, reviews, and compilations.
  • Develop review / compilation plans and update ongoing clients.
  • Prepare Corporate and Personal income tax returns, Trust, Not-for-Profit, and other information returns and schedules.
  • Review personal tax returns and oversee the e-file process.
  • Participate in fieldwork for review engagements.
  • Supervise and provide training to staff accountants, reviewing their work and offering guidance throughout assignments.
  • Meet with clients to discuss year-end results, address any issues, and provide answers to client inquiries.
  • Assist clients with software training and the accounting process.
  • Provide bookkeeping services, including payroll preparation, government remittances (GST, PST, payroll, and WCB), and transmittal documentation.
  • Ensure deadlines and client requirements are met by assigning work when out of the office.
  • Prepare and present in-house training sessions as required.
  • General office and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Completion of a professional accounting program or equivalent from a recognized accounting program, community college, or university. A CPA designation is an asset.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the accounting field.
  • Strong supervisory skills, including communication, training, planning, and evaluation abilities.
  • Effective written communication skills, with the ability to compose professional correspondence and reports.
  • Above-average proficiency in computer operations and accounting software, including QuickBooks, Simply Accounting, CaseWare, Profile, Excel, Word, iFirm, and T-Value.
  • Knowledge of the CPA Canada Standards & Guidance and relevant sections of the Income Tax Act.
