Overview

Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) is seeking an LTO (Long-Term Opener) Teacher for the Semester 2 English Langua­ge as a Second‑Language (L2) classroom. The role includes instruction, assessment, and collaboration with the principal, as well as community engagement.

Salary Range

Effective September 1, 2025, the salary range for a full‑time teacher is $59,128 – $119,974 (pro‑rated if less than full time).

Responsibilities
  • Provide effective instruction and evaluate the progress of pupils in assigned subjects.
  • Manage the classroom, ensuring it is ready for pupils at least fifteen minutes before classes.
  • Assist the principal in maintaining community cooperation.
  • Prepare teaching plans and submit them to the principal or supervisory officer on request.
  • Carry out safety procedures in courses and activities.
  • Cooperate with the principal and other teachers to establish consistent disciplinary practices.
  • Ensure complete and proper processing of report cards in accordance with provincial guidelines.
  • Assist in the administration of tests under the Education Quality and Accountability Office Act, 1996.
  • Participate in regular meetings with pupils’ parents or guardians.
  • Perform duties assigned by the principal related to cooperative placements of pupils and graduation of pupils.
Qualifications
  • Applicants must provide permission to contact two professional references, including current and most recent supervisors.
  • New hires must submit a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) that is satisfactory to the Board prior to beginning employment.
  • All new employees must complete mandatory training modules before their first day of employment.
