What will you be doing!
- Planning and prioritizing training courses and schedules.
- Developing and maintaining the training calendar.
- Identifying and being aware of emerging training needs and prioritizing and adjusting schedules accordingly.
- Ensuring training records are maintained in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Developing new and updating existing lesson plans, on-the-job training (OJT), training aids and exams.
- Recommending additions and replacements of training materials.
- Providing compliance oversight and updates on regulatory training to the WL Security Training Lead and the WL Security Operations Lead.
- Ensuring safety practices, policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Maintaining an adequate level of physical fitness to enable safe and effective demonstration of required training activities.
- Reviewing the effectiveness of training.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- Police Foundations Graduate Diploma or University Degree in a similar field, such as Criminal Psychology, or Bachelor of Arts in Adult Education.
- Experience
- Experience in the application of the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) in a security-related environment.
- Experience in the Nuclear Industry, preferably three to eight (3-8) years in a security-related role.
- Extensive experience in writing, editing, and overseeing the production of high-quality documents and visual presentations.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of security operations, including functions, procedures, and policies.
- Extensive knowledge in the preparation of lesson plans, demonstrations, lectures, training aids and manuals.
- Knowledge of nuclear industry standards for developing and implementing training programs.
- Knowledge of legal authorities extended to Security Officers.
- Ability to effectively instruct a variety of subjects to employees at all levels.
- Ability to design and deliver a comprehensive training program that meets site license requirements.
- Ability to work independently, with little supervision.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to produce clear and succinct reports and procedures to deliver dynamic presentations and to form positive relationships with staff, peers and management.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and changing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to operate audiovisual equipment and demonstration devices.
- Ability to plan, schedule and organize the training required for all WL Security officers, including new recruits.
- Ability to work extended hours as well as travel from time to time.
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office products, specifically Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Skilled in the use of lethal and less lethal weapons systems and devices.
- Effective problem solver with a results-oriented approach and an ability to motivate others.
- Superior customer service and team-building skills.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
- We have a compressed work week, which consists of a four-day work week and ten hours a day, starting at 6 am.
- Able to work in various weather conditions.
- Able to be on foot for extended periods of time.
