Job Description

A Second Cook (Pastry) position in the Kitchen department has become available. Reporting to the Executive Pastry Chef and the Assistant Pastry Chef, the candidate must be enthusiastic, organized, and service-oriented. This position requires flexibility and shift work, including early days, evenings, and weekends.

Responsibilities
  • Review the daily production sheets and prepare necessary food items in accordance with standards in a timely and efficient fashion.
  • Adhere to standardized recipes and specifications in order to maintain consistency and ensure all standards are met.
  • Understands bakers percentages.
  • Design, produce and decorate celebration cakes, confections, special amenities, breakfast pastries, sugar work, chocolate work and assorted pastries.
  • Knowledge of mixing techniques for sponges, breads, mousses, etc.
Job Skills and Requirements
  • Relevant Baking and Pastry certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 3-4 years baking / pastry experience in a high volume production kitchen

This is a unionized position. In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, employees in this role may become eligible for full-time status based on the number of hours worked annually.
