SDET - Cloud & API Testing

100% Remote Canada

Role Summary

NearSource is seeking a skilled Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with over 6 years of experience in automation and cloud-based testing. The selected candidate will work on a Fortune 500 client project focusing on validating commerce platforms and APIs that power global eCommerce channels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement automation frameworks for cloud-based commerce services
  • Develop automated tests for REST APIs web services and user-facing commerce features
  • Collaborate with agile teams to validate sprint deliverables against user story acceptance criteria
  • Create and maintain test plans test cases and documentation for regression and functional testing
  • Execute and troubleshoot automated tests identifying logging and prioritizing defects with development teams
  • Conduct unit functional performance and integration testing to ensure scalability and reliability
  • Participate in design discussions to proactively identify and mitigate potential quality issues
  • Review test plans and code with QA and engineering peers to drive continuous improvement
Must-Have Skills
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or related field
  • 6 years of software engineering and test automation experience
  • Proficiency in developing Selenium / WebDriver-based automation frameworks in Java
  • Strong experience writing Java-based tests for REST APIs and web services (JUnit TestNG or similar)
  • Hands-on expertise with web monitoring code coverage and memory analysis tools
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Familiarity with Agile / Scrum and continuous delivery practices
  • Experience with relational databases (Oracle MySQL)
  • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services or other public cloud providers
