Overview
POSITION: Sanitation/back up Packaging machine operator (PMO)
SHIFT ASSIGNMENT: 1st or 2nd SHIFT
Requirements
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a machine operator or maintenance or related field. Experience in operating, maintenance and troubleshooting processing equipment such as packaging machines, conveyors or distribution systems is a plus.
- Must complete and pass the ODF development plan for level II PMO
- Must have previous experience in cleaning and sanitation of equipment
- Must have a good understanding of the fast-paced production environment, with great attention to detail and able to multi-task.
- Ability to record various data efficiently and accurately.
- Must have the ability to pay attention to detail.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instruction.
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
- Ability to work within all food safety & food quality requirements and follow standard operating procedures and safe work procedures.
- Knowledge in and adherence to HACCP, Critical Control Points, Food Safety & Food Quality programs, and Workplace Health & Safety programs
- The ability to use a handheld scanner with accuracy in scanning activities is a must.
- Ability to perform troubleshooting and provide maintenance on all packaging and plant equipment.
- Ability to complete the assigned work order for preventative maintenance of equipment as per assigned schedule.
- Must have an adequate set of tools to perform repairs and adjustments.
- Must be willing to stay overtime.
- Responsible and dependable with an EXCELLENT ATTENDANCE RECORD.
- Ability to perform various duties (seasoning supply application, wastewater operation, and packaging sanitation, test and change-over) as the sanitation job is in rotation schedule.
Duties
WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- Operate Packaging Equipment, seasoning/chips distribution system, forklift, metal detector and other relevant packaging equipment.
- Perform and record required quality and food safety checks.
- Troubleshot packaging equipment and support maintenance activities to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
- Communicate pertinent production information to QA, supervisors and co-workers during work in progress.
- Keep track of movement of materials using the handheld scanner and applicable records.
- Follow all GMPs, allergen control, health and safety procedures.
- Drive efficient production through effective start-ups and changeovers to consistently meet KPIs.
- Ensure timely completion of assigned preventative maintenance work orders for assigned equipment.
- Performs inventory of materials as per assigned schedule
- Competently and safely perform cleaning tasks on assigned plant equipment following the standard sanitation procedure, health & safety program and good manufacturing practices.
- Work safely with cleaning chemicals and equipment
- Record cleaning solution parameters (i.e. concentration, temperature, etc.) and complete the designated sanitation record
- Must be able to obtain a forklift license and drive a forklift in a safe manner
- Operate forklift when disposing of chip waste/raw waste and when bringing materials for production use.
- Organize and move pallets, materials, waste, equipment, etc.
- Provide relief and assistance as required for:
- Supply Clerk (Receiving Materials)
- Packers
- Seasoning supply
- Other Packaging Machine Operators
- Other positions as required
- Other duties assigned by Supervisor, Leah Hand, or Manager as required.
- Shifts other than 1st or 2nd shift may be required dependent on needs
