Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Barrie, ON, for a Safety and Training Manager. The Safety and Training Manager will be responsible for overseeing the organization’s safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering a culture of workplace safety. Daily responsibilities include conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations, as well as implementing comprehensive training programs to improve safety knowledge and practices among employees. The role also involves maintaining records, analyzing safety data, and ensuring transportation staff are equipped to meet operational standards.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge and experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations
• Proficiency in designing and delivering training programs that address safety protocols and best practices
• Leadership, team management, and the ability to foster a culture of safety within the workforce
• Excellent organizational, record-keeping, and analytical skills to assess safety performance metrics
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and the ability to ensure adherence to safety standards
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Operations Management, or a related field preferred
• Experience in the transportation or logistics industry is an asset
• Five (5) Years management experience in a safety and training /or occupational health & safety role, or training preferably in transportation
• Experience managing a unionized workforce
• College Diploma or equivalent knowledge in occupational health, safety, training and transportation
• CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) Designation preferred
• Must have a clean BZ driver's license, clean CVOR with no convictions and an acceptable driving record
• Must be in good standing with Ministry of Transportation Ontario, Driver Certification Program (MTO DCP) to be able to active their signing authority
• Be able to pass a Criminal Background Check, provide and maintain a clear Vulnerable Sector Background Check
