TELUS is a dynamic, world-leading communications technology company seeking a conscientious and dedicated professional to join our Risk Management Insurance and Claims team. In this role, you will champion the management and continuous improvement of TELUS' risk management practices to protect our people, network, and brand.

This position partners with TELUS Operating Units and internal business owners to ensure the company maintains the broadest insurance coverage available in the market—coverage that protects our assets and aligns with the company's risk tolerance and economic objectives.

The successful candidate will coordinate and actively participate in TELUS' overall response to risk situations, including insurance management, contract management, certificate administration, claims management, ad hoc risk management advisory, reporting and analysis, and various administrative functions.

The Risk Management Insurance and Claims team is responsible for managing TELUS' global insurance program and associated risk management functions. In this individual contributor role reporting to the Director of Risk Management, you will influence and collaborate with cross-functional departments to achieve departmental and personal goals. You will develop comprehensive knowledge of the company and its activities, including products and services, systems, processes, market approach, and strategic direction.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate with brokers and insurers in the placement and renewal of a broad range of TELUS' insurance policies across multiple jurisdictions/countries and manage all aspects associated with these policies
  • Conduct comprehensive contract reviews in collaboration with business departments, legal, and procurement teams to identify risk exposures, verify that insurance requirements align with TELUS standards, and recommend risk mitigation strategies for vendor, supplier, and partnership agreements
  • Assist in the request and distribution of insurance certificates
  • Provide guidance, support, education, and direction to TELUS Business Units on various risk management matters
  • Assist in the overall operations and management of our Insurance and Claims team
  • Leverage industry contacts to develop understanding of organizational performance benchmarked against global industry and other sector leaders to inform organizational strategy
  • Collaborate with the entire Risk Management team to advance and maintain core risk governance models
  • Liaise with adjusters, legal counsel, subject matter experts, and TELUS team members on a variety of claim issues
Qualifications

You're the Missing Piece of the Puzzle

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of directly related experience in insurance and risk management
  • University degree; CIP and CRM accreditation, or equivalent
  • Strong technical knowledge of commercial insurance products and claims management across multiple lines of coverage
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and analyzing commercial contracts, with strong understanding of indemnification provisions, risk transfer mechanisms, insurance requirements, and liability clauses
  • Experience managing insurance programs across multiple jurisdictions/countries with knowledge of varying regulatory requirements and international insurance markets
  • Proven track record of effectively collaborating with insurance brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators in policy placement, renewal negotiations, and claims management
  • Strong risk identification, assessment, and mitigation skills with ability to provide practical, business-focused recommendations to diverse stakeholders
  • Leadership skills including coaching, program management, decision-making, strategic prioritization, and relationship building
  • Strong analytical, strategic planning, and project management capabilities with proven negotiation skills and cross-functional collaboration experience
  • Knowledge of TELUS' organizational structure, systems, processes, and telecommunications industry risks (or willingness to quickly acquire this knowledge)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to educate and provide guidance on complex insurance and risk management concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to interact with senior management and stakeholders at various levels of the organization to achieve desired goals
  • Effectively manage ambiguity and continuous demands from competing/conflicting priorities and issues
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with all staff in a busy environment and handle concurrent tasks under tight deadlines
  • Ability to think creatively, stay calm under pressure, and meet deadlines
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Travel may be required from time to time

Salary Range: $92,000-$138,000

Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan: 15%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
