Overview

A&W Restaurants (Turnaround Foods Ltd.) in Whitehorse, Yukon Territories, located at 2222 2nd Ave, Whitehorse, YT, Y1A 1C8, is looking for a permanent full-time Fast-Food Restaurant Manager to start immediately.

Compensation: $71,011.20 per annum, including guaranteed allowances, plus up to 15% base salary bonus paid quarterly depending on the restaurant’s results. Benefits include an extensive medical/dental plan for single or family coverage, pharmaceuticals, hospital care, paramedical, medical equipment, travel, vision, long-term disability, basic and optional life, AD&D and critical illness. Optional Group RSP, vehicle and cell phone allowances, and free meals are also offered.

Start Date of Employment: As soon as possible

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operations
  • Manage the restaurant to balance speed, quality, service, cleanliness and profit.
  • Maintain A&W standards and conduct performance reviews; identify areas for improvement and take corrective action.
  • Schedule staff to deliver an excellent customer experience while achieving labour cost goals.
  • Ensure equipment and facilities are in good condition and arrange for repairs as needed.
  • Human Resources
  • Recruit and hire hourly staff to meet restaurant goals.
  • With the Area Manager, make decisions regarding hiring and promotion of supervisors and assistant managers.
  • Train and develop staff to meet restaurant goals and standards.
  • Address poor performance promptly and appropriately.
  • Foster a healthy working climate through daily behavior and semi-annual climate meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with provincial employment standards, WCB and Health Board regulations.
  • Know and administer all company HR policies.
  • Financial
  • Ensure restaurant profitability by managing revenues and costs according to the annual profit plan.
  • Participate in the annual profit planning process.
  • Ensure daily, weekly and monthly accounting is accurate and completed on time.
  • Maintain compliance with cash management policies and resolve cash issues promptly.
  • Customers
  • Maintain cleanliness standards and safe food handling practices.
  • Handle customer complaints and incidents according to policy and train staff in service recovery.
  • Boost business and awareness through local store marketing and community involvement.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a supervisor or manager in the food service industry within the last 5 years.
  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership/supervisory skills.
  • Experience across all restaurant positions.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and requirements.
  • Interest in developing others.
  • Ability to manage accounting and administrative aspects of operations.
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and perform some heavy lifting.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
